Hong Kong, 2018
In this body of work I am exploring the topic of air pollution in the city of Honk Kong and how I first perceived its masses and pollution. In this process of assimilation I came to the conclusion that people living in these cities do not recognize how polluted their cities really are and if they do, they decided to ignore it.  Hong Kong is the world's fourth most densely populated region and has the world’s largest number of skyscrapers. The lack of available space made Hong Kong develop into a high-density city with residential and commercial complexes that are packed closely together. Hong Kong’s sky is composed of a mixture of clouds and pollution that limit the visibility to less than eight kilometres for thirty per cent of the year.
I decided to explore this characteristic of Hong Kong and continue this exploration in the darkroom. Using an experimental developing process to be able to obta
in the smoggy wash that the photographs have and achieving the perception I had from the city. I also decided to make the photographs dark and heavy to reflect how the city can be stressful and exhausting.
