The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry after the oil industry.
The Cooking Dress, was made to raise awareness on the waste that the fashion industry produces.
I created a design reusing man shirts by deconstructing them and reusing the parts of the shirts as fabric to construct my dress. I used the technique of pleats, which I manipulated and added aluminium wires inside the dress, to achieve an interesting texture and a moldable dress.
I also used the technique of natural dyeing, using cochineal to make the dress hot pink. Through the process, the natural dye didn’t turned as the pink I imagined. But, I ended up with a more interesting fabric color and texture.
